Drones that depend on satellite navigation have a well-known weakness: jam or spoof the GPS signal and many of them drift, crash or fly off course. Bengaluru defence-technology start-up Paar Autonomy is betting that Indian military buyers need navigation systems designed to reduce that dependence. The company has raised ₹10 crore (about $1.2 million) in a round led by AdvantEdge Founders, according to Entrackr’s report dated 26 October 2026.

The company

Paar Autonomy was founded in June 2024 by Vignesh Sivaram Jayaraman. It builds both camera hardware and the AI software that runs on it, for drones and other unmanned platforms. Its Sentinel product family is aimed at defence uses such as surveillance and target tracking.

Entrackr reports an earlier ₹3.5 crore pre-seed round led by Venture Catalysts, used for a manufacturing line and pilot units.

What the money is for

Paar Autonomy says it will use the capital for two things:

  • Scaling production of its AI camera systems, moving from pilot units towards volume manufacturing.
  • Developing GPS-independent navigation, centred on visual-inertial navigation.

Visual-inertial navigation combines two sources of information. Cameras track how features in the scene move from frame to frame, while an inertial measurement unit (accelerometers and gyroscopes) measures the drone's own motion. Fusing the two can let an aircraft estimate its motion without relying on satellite signals. Inertial sensors alone drift over time; camera data corrects that drift. The aim is continued navigation when satellite signals are jammed, spoofed or unavailable. Reliability still depends on lighting, visible features, calibration and the operating environment.

Why this matters for India

The war in Ukraine turned electronic warfare against drones into a front-line reality: both sides routinely jam GPS and radio links, and large numbers of drones are lost to interference rather than to being shot down. Indian planners have drawn the same lesson. The Army's growing appetite for surveillance drones, loitering munitions and first-person-view (FPV) attack drones has been accompanied by demands that these systems work in contested electromagnetic environments, including along the northern borders where terrain already degrades satellite coverage.

That is also why the camera matters as much as the software. A drone that navigates by sight needs a reliable, well-calibrated imaging system and enough onboard computing to process it in real time. By building both the camera and the AI stack, Paar Autonomy is trying to own the full perception chain rather than integrate imported components.

The capability is relevant to contested navigation environments, but this funding announcement does not establish a military procurement contract or completed field qualification.

What to watch

At ₹10 crore, this is a small round by hardware standards, and the company's next proof points will be practical: field trials of its navigation stack in GPS-denied conditions, and orders from the services or from larger drone makers. Indian defence buyers increasingly ask for indigenous content and resistance to jamming. A start-up that can show both has a real opening.
