Apollyon Reports a 498 km/h Test Speed for Its Ahuti Mk II Interceptor
The Hyderabad startup says the multirotor result has India Book of Records recognition. Top speed remains distinct from demonstrated interception performance.

Hyderabad-based Apollyon Dynamics says its Ahuti Mk II electric multirotor reached 498 km/h, a result the company says has been recognised by the India Book of Records.
Moneycontrol’s September 3 report reproduces the company’s September 2 announcement. Apollyon is incubated at BITS Pilani’s Hyderabad campus. The speed figure should be understood as the announced test result, rather than a demonstrated engagement speed under every operating condition.
Why speed matters—and what it leaves open
The aircraft is being developed for interception, where closing the distance to another aerial platform is an important design requirement. The company describes substantial changes from its earlier Ahuti platform rather than a simple speed upgrade.
The originating statement, also quoted in IDRW’s account, does not publish a complete test protocol. It does not establish endurance at maximum speed, payload during the run, or the probability of a successful interception.
Those distinctions matter because a short straight-line speed measurement answers a narrower question than a complete counter-drone trial. Detection, tracking, guidance, manoeuvring and recovery or safe termination all affect how a system works in practice.
The result is a specific development milestone for an Indian startup. A fuller technical assessment would require documented test conditions and repeatable engagement results. Claims of regional or global superiority should remain separate from the company’s reported national record.
