Zenergize Raises $4 Million to Scale India's First Indigenous Silicon-Carbide Power Electronics
Gurugram's Zenergize Technologies has raised a Pre-Series A round to scale its silicon-carbide EV chargers and solar inverters against an order book already worth ₹150 crore.

Zenergize Raises $4 Million to Scale India's First Indigenous Silicon-Carbide Power Electronics
Silicon carbide has been the material every EV-charging and solar-inverter maker talks about wanting and few Indian companies actually build with at scale. Gurugram's Zenergize Technologies is trying to close that gap, and it has just picked up $4 million — roughly ₹33.5 crore — in a Pre-Series A round to do it faster.
What Zenergize actually builds
Founded by Navneet Daga and Dr. Veer Karan Goyal, both IIT and IIM alumni, Zenergize describes itself as building India's first vertically integrated, silicon-carbide-based power electronics stack for EV charging and solar infrastructure. Its product line spans DC fast chargers and AC/DC EV chargers rated up to 240 kW, alongside solar inverters — all engineered, the company says, around conditions specific to India: high ambient heat, voltage swings on the grid that stress power electronics harder than in more stable grids, and compatibility with the PM Surya Ghar rooftop-solar subsidy scheme.
The silicon-carbide angle matters because SiC-based power semiconductors handle higher voltages and switch more efficiently than traditional silicon at the same size, which translates into smaller, lighter, cooler-running chargers and inverters — exactly the properties that matter for fast-charging infrastructure meant to sit outdoors in Indian summers. Zenergize's chargers carry automotive certification and its solar inverters carry BIS certification, the baseline compliance bar for selling into India's regulated power-electronics market.
The round
The Pre-Series A round was led by Giraffe Studios and structured as a mix of equity and venture debt, with participation from a notable bench of industrial entrepreneurs and angel investors: Nikhil Sawhney of Triveni Turbine, Varun Agarwal of Ellenbarrie Industrial Gases, Shyam Bagri of Bagrry's Holdings, Raoul Bajaj of Trafigura, angel investor Sunil Kalra, Ajith Pai and Sandeep Barasia (both formerly of Delhivery), Nitin Jain of Neo Group, and Hemant Daga of Neo Bank. That investor list skews toward operators with industrial and manufacturing backgrounds rather than pure financial investors — a pattern increasingly common in India's hard-tech rounds, where strategic angels bring supply-chain and manufacturing-scale-up expertise alongside capital.
The numbers behind the raise
Zenergize says it has reached an annual revenue run rate of ₹30 crore and built an order book exceeding ₹150 crore, both within roughly a year of commercial operations — a fast ramp for a hardware manufacturer working with a material, SiC, that historically has been dominated by a handful of established global suppliers. The company's stated target is to push its annual revenue run rate past ₹100 crore using the new capital.
The funds are earmarked for four things: expanding manufacturing capacity, strengthening the engineering and R&D team, building out a sales and service network, and continuing product development. Manufacturing capacity is the binding constraint implied by that order book-to-revenue ratio — a ₹150 crore pipeline against ₹30 crore in trailing revenue only converts to cash if Zenergize can actually build and ship faster.
Why this fits India's chip-and-power-electronics push
Zenergize's raise lands alongside a broader government and private push into compound semiconductors — the class of materials, including silicon carbide and gallium nitride, that India's semiconductor mission has increasingly flagged as strategically distinct from the silicon wafer fabs getting the bulk of policy attention. Where a silicon fab is a multi-billion-dollar, decade-long undertaking, SiC-based power electronics manufacturing is a shorter, more capital-efficient path to import substitution in a component category — EV chargers and inverters — that India is deploying at scale right now, not waiting years for.
That makes Zenergize as much an EV-and-solar-infrastructure story as a semiconductor one: every DC fast charger and grid-tied solar inverter the country installs today is either imported or, increasingly, built on India-made SiC power stages like the ones Zenergize is trying to scale.
The investor bet behind the cap table
The composition of Zenergize's angel bench is itself a signal of how India's industrial families are approaching hard-tech investing. Triveni Turbine, Ellenbarrie Industrial Gases, Bagrry's and Trafigura are not names associated with startup investing in the way a VC fund is — they are operating industrial businesses whose principals are writing personal cheques into a company adjacent to their own supply chains. That pattern has become increasingly common in Indian power-electronics and materials startups, where domain-literate industrial capital can move faster than a generalist fund evaluating unfamiliar physics, and where the investors themselves are often prospective customers or channel partners for the very chargers and inverters being built.
For Zenergize, that means the round is not just capital — it is a distribution and credibility signal aimed at the industrial and EV-fleet buyers who ultimately decide whether an India-made SiC charger wins a tender over an imported one.
What happens next
With the new capital, the company's near-term test is straightforward — whether its manufacturing capacity can catch up to a ₹150 crore order book before the window on that demand narrows to whoever can deliver. India's EV-charging buildout and the PM Surya Ghar rooftop-solar rollout are both large enough markets that Zenergize does not need to win every tender to hit its stated ₹100 crore revenue-run-rate target; it needs to convert the backlog it has already booked into shipped, certified units on a timeline its customers will tolerate. That is a manufacturing and working-capital problem more than a technology one at this point — which is exactly the phase a Pre-Series A round with venture debt attached is meant to fund.
